Ceiling & Wall Battening

Ceiling & Wall Systems

This is used on concrete ceiling instead of double battening or metal stud. It offers significant time saving and material savings.  In fact it has been shown to be almost half the cost of metal stud.

Advantages:

  • Batten a ceiling in at least half the time
  • “One pass system”
  • Easily levelled with EasyFix levellers or by “compressing” batten fixer
  • Similar material price as traditional battening and around half  the price of metal systems (also significant labour saving costs)
  • No cross batten to get in way of recess lights & ample room to carry services or to add services
  • Holes in fixers may also be used to carry wires/services

Technical Info:

  • Will help with acoustics within a build (less reverb)
  • Battens fixed in place using a standard express nail, one side of a fixer
  • Services up to 108mm thick (e.g. ducting) can be carried with a 50mm batten or 133mm with a 75mm timber batten.
  • Same spacing as standard ceiling double battening allow 400mm between battens & 700 – 900mm between fixers
  • Allow for around 3-4 battens per m²

A = 38mm EasyFix Batten Fixer
B = Spring or Anchor nail trough timber
      keeping everything in place
C = Required timber batten usually 50mm X 50mm

E) EasyFix Wall Batten System. Use in a similar way to the ceiling system
Allows ample room for services and insulation---Offers better acoustic properties than standard double battening---Ample room for services underneath & between fixers---Walls can be easily levelled by using levellers or compressing fixers----Foil back insulation, fiber wool or spray on insulation can be easily used with this system----Thickness of wall can be varied by using thicker battens or adding more EasyFix levellers
